Spirit Airlines debuts extra-legroom seats, revamps loyalty program

Spirit Airlines announced it will soon offer seats with more legroom and other loyalty perks for its customers. 

Why you should care:

The "Go Comfy" travel options seats will consist of four additional inches of legroom with a new total pitch of 32 inches. Installation of the extra-legroom seating will begin in June 2025 and expand to most of the fleet by July, with the remaining aircraft expected to be completed in 2026.

Extra-legroom seats will be available to book starting May 15 for travel beginning July 9.

As part of enhancing "Go Comfy" travel option, Spirit will phase out the blocked middle seat to allow space for the extra-legroom seating.

The "Go Comfy" option will also include a carry-on bag, no change or cancellation fees, priority boarding, reserved overhead bin space, a snack and non-alcoholic beverages. 

Spirit is also upgrading its Free Spirit Loyalty Program with the following perks:

  • Free Spirit points can now be used for all fare types, with more redemption options coming soon.
  • Status members and cardholders get free upgrades at boarding, based on availability.
  • Travel More Mastercard holders will get two free checked bags starting in late 2025.
  • A new debit card launching this fall will earn points on spending and offer travel perks.
