Gilbert shooting leaves man dead, suspect arrested

A shooting on Monday afternoon in a Gilbert neighborhood left a man dead, and a suspect has been arrested.

What we know:

The May 19 shooting happened at around 4:30 p.m. near Power and Germann Roads.

Gilbert Police say officers received a call of two men arguing. While they were responding, officers learned that the shooting had occurred.

"Upon arrival, officers located Manuel Vega Lopez, a 51-year-old male, with gunshot injuries," police said. "Life-saving measures were unsuccessful, and Vega Lopez was pronounced deceased at the scene."

The suspect in the shooting, 28-year-old Wyatt Ford, was arrested. He was booked into jail and is accused of second-degree murder.

Police say Ford opened fire after getting into an argument with Lopez, who was there to trim trees.

Police say the shooting was an isolated incident and there are no outstanding suspects.
